About Me
I grew up Spokane, Washington. I have one younger brother, Donald. He is Network Administrator at Netriver.net. My mom, Sue, teaches high school french and my dad, Greg, is the District Director of Facilities for the Community Colleges of Spokane. In May 1997, I graduated from Washington State University with a B.S. in Physics and minors in Math, Astronomy and Philosophy. I worked as a Research Associate in the NASA Academy at the Goddard Space Flight Center during the summer of 1997.
I did my graduate work at the University of Michigan. I finished a combined PhD program in Astronomy & Astrophysics and Science Education. I have taught introductory classes and labs for the astronomy department and have taught astronomy labs in the Michigan Math and Science Summer program. I also worked at the Center for Highly Interactive Classrooms, Curriculum and Computing in Education at the School of Education, where I helped develop middle school units on Astronomy and on Energy. Throughout my time in graduate school I worked as a planetarium operator at the University of Michigan's Exhibit Museum of Natural History.
Currently I am the Coordinator of Science Education at Arcadia University.
